A Virtual High School based in LMS open-source and Learning Objects

In this work a pilot project of Learning Management System (LMS), used in high school to complement the traditional teaching-learning process, is showed. The LMS used is Atutor, opensource-software based in learning objects (LO) and SCORM compliant. The Virtual High School (VHS) was implemented in a traditional Chilean high school, following the software engineering procedure, the first step was to identify the users (teachers and high school students) and also the requirement of the school, the second one was to adapt the Atutor to the traditional teachinglearning process, the third one was to build LOs and finally to apply the pilot project. The pilot project was developed from August to December of 2004 (second semester of the academic year in Chile). The version used is 1.4, because this version has adopted IMS/SCORM Content Packaging Specification. The users were three teachers and 45 high school students.
